Keeping it in the family

Date published: 27 June 2014

A local amateur musical society is set to take the stage by storm at its upcoming North West Amateur Premiere of The Addams Family Musical… and there are more than a few familiar names and faces in the programme.

The society, which has produced three NW regional premieres in the last five years, has a wealth of talent to draw from and enjoys a healthy and active social scene. It’s no surprise then that so many members of the same family find they’re treading the boards together.

This production is certainly proof of that as more than six pairs of relatives are appearing alongside each other in the forthcoming The Addams family Musical; and it’s a real family affair as more relatives make up the production team! With fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, brothers and sisters, this spectacular musical is a real tribute to The Addams family motto – “It’s family first and family last!”

The Addams family musical is a fun, gothic comedy with all of the familiar Addams family characters – Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Pugsley and of course Wednesday Addams, who has now grown up and fallen in love – how will the Addams family cope with this. With a little help from their long deceased ancestors, this hilarious story explores the highs and lows of young and not so young love.

The Addams Family open on Tuesday 1 July until Saturday 5 July at the Curtain Theatre, Milkstone Road, Rochdale, OL11 1EB, performances at 7.30pm each night with a Saturday Matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets are priced at £12 for adults and £10 for concessions, and are available at the Box Office on 01706 630773 or online* at www.wamds.co.uk (*booking fee applies)
