Council spending £450,000 refurbishing Fashion Corner for extra office space for council staff

Date published: 26 June 2014

Rochdale Council is in the process of refurbishing Fashion Corner on Water Street for extra office space.

The refurbishment is costing £450,000 and it is understood that council staff will occupy the building as well as the space being used to deliver work with young people.

Mark Widdup, Director for Economy and Environment at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “The council, in order to ensure the most efficient, cost effective use of its buildings, continues to bring together services from locations across the borough.

"Fashion Corner is part of that strategy along with Number One Riverside, encouraging effective partnership and cross service working.

"Fashion Corner will also be used to deliver direct work with young people who will be offered skills development opportunities.

“The cost of the refurbishment of Fashion Corner will be £450,000 from the Council’s Capital Programme.”

It is currently unclear how many members of council staff will be using the refurbished premises.
