Rochdale Council is not replacing street lighting on Brown Lodge Street, Littleborough

Date published: 26 June 2014

Rochdale Council has confirmed that it is not be replacing street lighting on Brown Lodge Street, Littleborough.

This comes after residents along that street received a leaflet stating that the lights would be replaced despite replacement lights already being fitted.

Upon receiving the leaflet, Kevin Halstead who lives on Brown Lodge Street said: “These lights were replaced within the last two years so now they are going to replace the replacements. Its no wonder the council is permanently in debt.”

Rochdale Council has now confirmed that the leaflets were not meant for Bown Lodge Street and that the lights will not be replaced.

Mark Widdup, Director of Economy and Environment at Rochdale Borough Council said: “We can confirm that Brown Lodge Street is not due for street lighting renewal. Leaflets were mistakenly put through the doors of residents living on this street following a leaflet drop on Brown Lodge Drive, which runs along the same stretch of road. We would like to apologise to residents for the understandable confusion caused by this. We are working with our street lighting contractor Eon to ensure this does not happen again.”
