Rochdale Council to receive over £400,000 to fix potholes

Rochdale Council is to receive £424,873 to fix potholes.

This money was awarded following a bid from Rochdale Council for a slice of a multi million pound government fund.

The pothole repair fund will complement the existing highways investment programme, which saw the council commit to spending £10m on the borough’s roads between 2013 and 2015.

Councillor Jacqui Beswick, Cabinet Member for Highways at Rochdale Borough Council, welcomed the move. She said: “The condition of our Highways continues to be a priority for residents and the council. Potholes not only have the potential to cause accidents, but they can also damage cars and bikes.

"We welcome this money and will prioritise our areas most in need of repair as well as those which have been raised as areas of concern by our residents and ward councillors.”

All repair works will have been completed by the end of March 2015.
