Litter bins removed in Castleton to be replaced
Date published: 25 June 2014
Litter bins which were removed throughout the Castleton area of Rochdale are due to be replaced.
Bins were removed on Royle Road, Gypsy Lane and Silk Street.
This led to concerns being raised amongst residents regarding the bins as residents believed it would cause a litter problem in the area with people choosing to throw rubbish on to the street.
Rochdale Council has now confirmed that the bins were removed due to lamp post replacements and are set to be replaced.
Mark Widdup, Director of Economy and Environment at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “These bins were attached to lighting columns [lamp posts] in the area, so were removed when the columns were replaced. We will be erecting new bins in this area in July.”
