Wardleworth Community Centre Open Day

Date published: 24 June 2014

Wardleworth Community Centre held an open day on Monday 23 June to advertise its range of services.

The centre featured services such as English classes, advice on staying healthy and managing diabetes throughout the month of Ramadan, blood pressure checks, advice on giving up smoking, and recruitment for new community champions and volunteers.

Centre Development worker, Afzal Miah, said: “The turn out was excellent. We had about 100 people who attended on the day. A lot of people really benefitted from the services and found them to be useful.

"Throughout the day, a lot of people took leaflets and received advice on how to make small changes for a healthier lifestyle. We also had several people sign up to become new volunteers and community champions.”

The open day was held in partnership with Superdrug Pharmacy, RMBC’s Our Life, The Talk English Project and Regenda Housing Association.

The Wardleworth Community Centre is located on South Street, Wardleworth.
