Mayor’s charity country fete

The Mayor of Rochdale Councillor Carol Wardle will be hosting the first ever Mayor’s Charity Country Fete in September.

The event will take place on Sunday 21 September between 10.00am and 4.00pm at Rochdale Riding Club Showground on Roch Valley Way and will raise money for the Mayor’s Charity Appeal.

This year, the appeal is raising money for Springhill Hospice, Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home and Heywood Youth Link at Old Hucky’s.

Attractions at the event will include a penalty shoot out, face painting, craft stall, farmers market, vintage carousel, wildlife, bouncy castle, archery and clear round jumping.

The event will also include a range of competitions for children and adults and will also include a variety of competitions and activities for pets.

Pets can get involved with a dog agility course, dog show, pony novelty show and a pets corner.

Children can have extra fun by taking part in a gymkhana and children’s non animal classes such as decorated cup cakes, box garden, misshapen vegetables, tasty cookies, decorated cookies and decorated stone.

Adult non animal classes will include homemade bread, Victoria sponge, savory quiche/pastry, fruit crumble/pie, decorated cup cakes, homemade sweet preserve, homemade savory chutney, scones, fruit loaf/cake, home grown plant or flowers and home grown vegetable or fruit.

Refreshments will also be available at the event including a hog roast, burgers, ice cream and candy floss.

Entries for competitions and classes should be received by the charity appeal committee by Saturday 13 September.
