Springhill Hospice Summer Serenade
Date published: 22 June 2014
Picnics, music and good weather were on the cards last night (Saturday 21 June) for the second Springhill Hospice Summer Serenade.
The event saw the grounds of the hospice turned in to a music venue for the evening.
The Children’s choir, Rochdale Wind Band and the Rock Choir provided musical entertainment for the evening.
Springhill Hospice Community Fundraiser Lillie Winterbottom said: “This is a nice way to raise money for the Hospice as well as enjoying a nice evening in the lovely weather.”
Over 120 people attended the event to help raise funds for the hospice. Guests were able to have a picnic whilst enjoying the entertainment provided and could also take part in a raffle.
Lillie added: “Thankfully the weather has been brilliant. We had to have it inside last year because the weather was horrendous but
today has been great.”
The Hospice regularly holds fundraising events throughout the year as well as having money fundraised from outside fundraisers.
It currently costs £3m a year to keep the doors of the Hospice open so donations and fundraising efforts are greatly appreciated.
Springhill Hospice provides palliative end of life care, day facilities, Hospice at Home and bereavement counselling services to the people of Rochdale and the surrounding areas.
