Activity club helps Tour de France preparations
Date published: 21 June 2014
An activity club on The Butts in Rochdale Town Centre, gave families the opportunity to prepare for the Tour de France with children able to make streamers for their bikes, colour in a picture of a cyclist, have glitter tattoos and get balloon models made.
Rahanna Hawkins from Red Cape Marketing, who organised the event, said: “I think people know about the Tour de France but I don’t think many people know exactly what is going on and where it is going so this is a chance for children and families to get involved with it all.”
The club will also be held for the next two weeks with new activities each week.
“It has been really busy and people have been really interested in what is going on,” added Rahanna.
Children were also given a free goody bag at the club, which included bike reflectors, a spectators guide to the Tour de France, bike safety tips and an activity club booklet with information about upcoming clubs.
Martin Ballard, Managing Director of Red Cape Marketing said: “We have seen some older people come along as they are passing through town saying that they will be bringing their children and grandchildren next week so we have seen a really good reaction.”
Next week's club will give children the opportunity to design a t-shirt for the Tour de France and will be held between 10.00am and 3.00pm on The Butts.
