Ascot Ladies Day in the Peacock Room

Date published: 20 June 2014

The sun shone brightly as 90 glamorous ladies descended on the Peacock Room for Ascot ladies day. The ladies enjoyed bubbly in the newly opened secret garden before heading into the Peacock Room for a decadent three course lunch. The excitement of the races took over, displayed on three screens with token betting provided.

The big winners were the Hospice at Home, the nominated charity. Over £2,000 was raised through charity auction lots, raffle and betting profits.

A beautiful handmade afternoon tea followed and the day was completed by the superb Andy Ellison performing his tribute to Michael Buble. Restaurant Manager David Bowman-Powell said: “It has been a fabulous day. I'm so pleased the ladies have enjoyed themselves and we have helped supported this friends of Springhill Hospice at Home.”

Deckers Managing Director and resident bookie for the day Max Brierley said: “Its been a lot of fun for us and the guests. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to make this event successful, and I would like to thank team at the Peacock Room, both in the kitchen and front of house. I must also thank our supporters for their generous donations, Gerrard Seel, Harris the florists and Jamilla Paul. They have helped us raise this fantastic amount and we are very grateful.”

Prizes were awarded for best hat and also most elegant outfit. The later prize going to Dr Charlotte Barber who looked stunning in a understated midnight blue dress.
