Date published: 20 June 2014

The Rochdale branch of the NSPCC held its tenth annual “Ascot at Nutters” event yesterday (Thursday 19 June).

The event was attended by 150 supporters of the NSPCC with ladies dressing to impress as if they were at Ascot for the races.

Lis Kay, chairman of the Rochdale Ascot at Nutters Steering Group said: “We are very pleased with the response that we get with this event.”

Guests were treated to a drinks reception before sitting down to a three course meal prepared by Chef Andrew Nutter.

As well as a three course meal, guests got to enjoy the races as well as taking part in a raffle whilst enjoying the surroundings of Nutters Restaurant.

The total raised from the event was £6,001.00

Fisherfield Farm Nursery, who are big supporters of the NSPCC also donated a cheque of £8,617 to the charity after fundraising throughout the year.

The nursery fundraises for the NSPCC by holding a variety of events including open days and fun days and has been involved with the Ascot event for a number of years.

Debbie Sefton, Community Fundraising Manager for the NSPCC said: “Thank you to Fisherfield Farm Nursery for the massive effort to raise this money all year round and thank you to the committee for hosting this event for ten years. I remember when the seed was planted and to see it grow into this event has been fabulous.”

Money raised at the event goes to help children all across the North West.

Lis added: “Rochdale, Heywood and Littleborough all do their own events throughout the year for the NSPCC but this is the one event were we all come together.”

After ten years of hosting the event for the NSPCC, the “Ascot at Nutters” event has raised £53,122.83 for the NSPCC.
