Suicidal woman at Piethorne Reservoir

Emergency services attend the incident at Piethorne Reservoir

Police and fire crews were called to Piethorne Reservoir, Newhey yesterday afternoon (Monday 16 June) to reports of a suicidal woman.

It is understood that the 46-year-old woman was in the water at some point.

Ambulances and specialist divers also attended the scene.

The woman was later detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital for assessment.
