CommuniTea Room opens it’s doors

Date published: 17 June 2014

The CommuniTea Room held an official opening ceremony on Saturday 14 June 2014, with the Chief Guest the Mayor of Rochdale, Carol Wardle.

CommuniTea is a tea room, snack bar and community hub, which invests its profits into projects to help the local community.

CommuniTea declare it is their ambition to become a one-stop shop for tea drinking and welfare support in the community, working in partnership with other businesses and agencies to offer the best community facilities it can.

CommuniTea is currently working with the ‘Let’s Talk Partnership’, through which it will provide counselling and help develop a support network for those struggling with bereavement and mental health issues.

Mayor Wardle said at the opening: “The Directors; Dobir Miah, Dr Musharraf Hussain and Saj Miah have worked tirelessly for the past 18 months to get the CommuniTea CIC off the ground and they have done a remarkable job converting a derelict building into a fantastic facility for the community.

It is also pleasing to see a very talented team of people together with apprentices and students working – all of whom are local and I am also pleased to learn that the goods are all purchased locally fitting to the Rochdale way of the Pioneers.”

The CommuniTea Room is located on 234 Yorkshire Street, Rochdale, and is currently open Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and 12-6pm on weekends.
