Mason Taylor wins the North West’s Sir John Moore’s Personal Progress Award

Date published: 17 June 2014

Mason Taylor has been named as the North West’s Sir John Moore’s Personal Progress Award winner.

Mason Taylor, 16, was nominated for his progress, communication skills and his level of maturity. Mason’s project involved the making of cultural educational leaflets, as well as wristbands, to promote the understanding and acceptance of different cultures.

This is the first time a pupil from Oulder Hill Community School has been nominated for the Sir John Moore’s Personal Progress Award.

Mason’s teacher, Ms Sarah Sladen, said she nominated Mason due to his excellent market research skills, and his ability to speak to customers. Mason and his team also won Best Trade Stand for Rochdale and Oldham at the area finals.

The Sir John Moore’s Personal Progress Award was set up in memory of Sir John Moores by his daughter, Lady Grantchester. The award is linked to the Young Enterprise programme, which is the UK’s largest business and enterprise education charity.

The charity estimates it helps around 250,000 young people learn about business and the world of work, within the classroom. The award aims to recognise individual achievements through their participation in the programme.

Mason has now been invited to attend an awards ceremony, at which he will be presented with a certificate, trophy and a cheque for £100. The awards ceremony will be held at the Barclays Technology Centre in Knutsford on the 19 June 2014. Congratulations Mason!
