Grid block!

Date published: 16 June 2014

A grid outside of Rochdale bus station which was reported to be filled with concrete is actually filled with debris and dust.

Passers by noticed the grid yesterday (Sunday 15 June) and raised concerns after believing it had been filled with concrete.

After speaking with Rochdale Council it is understood that the grid has actually filled with dust and debris from the building of a new pedestrian crossing and will eventually be cleared.

Mark Widdup, Director of Economy and Environment at Rochdale Council, said: “As part of the planned improvements in the town centre, we are installing a pedestrian crossing between the bus station and Metrolink stop. This naturally causes dust and debris and will be cleared up upon completion of the work.”
