Amazing Art Week
Date published: 16 June 2014
The children at St John with St Michael CE Primary School in Shawforth had an amazing art week. They worked on a wide range of skills and looked at all different styles and mediums of art - including performing art.
The most popular activity was the hand and foot paining outside. The children were giggling with delight as their friends painted their feet and helped them walk along long rolls of paper.
SPLATS joined us and worked with different year groups to reinact Katies Pictures, which is a book about a little girl who is magically transported into well known art when she visits a gallery with her Grandma. The children made masks and props to support their performance.
Class 2 made some beautiful pieces of art based on Sunflowers; they did observational drawings, tissue paper pictures, finger printing and pastels.
The finished work will be displayed within school as an art exhibition and parents are invited to buy their children’s finished pieces.
