Good and warm weather helped members of the Rochdale Environmental Action Group to clean Mere, Devon, William, Sussex, Essex, Suffolk, Drake, Ann and Henry Streets, car park of the Central Mosque and Milkstone Road.

They spoke to the businesses, taxi drivers, residents and members of the community about the improving the environment of the area. As the weather was nice and warm, it helped them to spend more time on cleaning the area.

Next Saturday, 21 June , they will be joining Councillor Shaun Duffy, Shaw & Cropmton and Councillor Terry Linden of Milkstone & Deeplish Ward to clean up the canal area in Milkstone & Deeplish Ward.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE , Secretary of  REAG, said: “It was very encouraging to see such new initiatives in the Borough of Rochdale where the councillors in both boroughs of Rochdale and Oldham are working jointly to improve the environment.

“The members of the Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) are committed to improving the environment in the Borough of Rochdale.

"We should feel pride in our town which has a rich history and traditions. If we spend few minutes in cleaning the front and rear of our properties, we can make a difference in days and weeks.

"Anyone wishing to join or help, please come to the Castlemere Community Centre Tweedale Street, Rochdale, every Saturday at 10.00am where REAG members gather and start their long journey of cleaning the area."
