Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 15 June 2014

Over the course of the last term, Mrs Coward has been running a drum club for the children across school on Thursday lunchtime. Next week, our drumming group will be joining groups of children from across the IPLCN schools for a morning of musical celebration. All the schools will be sending a group of KS2 children who will perform a number of pieces on different instruments – they will also join in as a group as a whole. We look forward to letting you know how our musical celebration at Heybrook Primary School went. Watch this space.

The Year 6 Visit to Lightwater Valley will be taking place on Tuesday 8 July parents will be receiving more information soon, which will include consent forms and a behavior agreement for their child which will need to be signed.

For the past few years we have organised a sponsored walk for a chosen charity. Once again, the KS2 children will be walking to Hollingworth Lake and back to school in July. Further information will follow.

Earlier this week Mrs Hoyle and Mr Khan got together with other teachers across the North West to share their ideas and progress within the Lesson Study pilot that the school is part of.

We are committed to raising standards at Hamer and as part of on-going school improvement work we constantly look at new ways to improve the quality of teaching at the school. This project looks at how we can continue to learn from existing good practice within the school and make this even better. The project is in conjunction with Edge Hill University and will continue into the next academic year.
