Tour de France

We are celebrating the Tour de France and 8 gifted and talented children have been chosen to work with Star Tree Studios.

The children will be given the challenge of working together to cover a bicycle using the Decoupage technique. The finished piece will be displayed for the whole local community to see.

We are also taking part in a competition designing a TDF jersey.

Our Band has been invited to play at a special screening in Harehill park on 6 July at 11.30am.

Trip to Wimbledon 2014

When children signed up for Tennis club, they never dreamt it would be the treat of a lifetime.

Our school entered a competition and won 10 tickets to Wimbledon!

We pulled 8 names out of a hat for children in Tennis club and those children will travel to London and watch tennis before having dinner and returning home, accompanied by the 2 teachers who run Tennis Club.

Fun during Fun Fitness and Finance week

Activities included Yoga, Tennis, Football with Rochdale FC , Dodgeball, Dancing, Life Bus, Boules, inflatable assault course, healthy handwashing, Basketball and Finance talks from a local Bank.

Businesses like Frozen Planet raised money for an African orphanage, and family tables for lunchtimes. Pile of Pennies made over £400! Thank you.

Profile of the month: Mrs. Christine Buckley – Lunchtime Welfare Supervisor

Mrs. Buckley has been a welfare assistant for 31 years.

7 years were at Littleborough High School and 24 years have been with Littleborough Primary School. She has been the Supervisor for most of that time.

Mrs. Buckley has 2 sons and 5 grandchildren. 1 is in Reception and 1 is at Scamps. Her hobbies include sewing and reading, and Christine also teaches adults how to make soft furnishings.

She has probably been a welfare assistant to most parents whose children come here! Mrs. Buckley feels that she is firm but fair she said: "The children are lovely and I enjoy being with them so much. They make me laugh!"

We say, ‘Thank you for your loyalty and hard work, Mrs. Buckley!’

Work on the School

We have ordered this seating for the playground which will go on the grass near the shelter. It can be used as an outdoor classroom too.

There will be building work on the roof starting on 23 June. The Local Authority (with some match funding from us) are working on 3 areas of the school roof. The roof will be resurfaced but more importantly, skylights will be improved and will open to improve ventilation. This includes a new opening skylight in the Audio visual room.

We have also started creating new cloakroom areas and display units which look wonderful.
