The Secret Garden opens at The Crimble

Date published: 14 June 2014

A new outside venue has been opened at The Crimble. The Secret Garden will offer a relaxed environment for people to dine in.

The garden, which officially opened to the public on Friday (13 June) includes an astro-turfed area with tables, an area for wooden tables and a smoking shelter and has been built for guests to dine 'al fresco'.

Richard Stansfield, Sales and Marketing Executive of the Deckers group, said: “We can fit 56 covers in the garden and 160 covers in total.”

Diners are invited to chose their own table, order their food at the bar and wait for their meal to arrive.

Richard added: “We wanted to explore new ways of dining and we were aware of people looking for the fast bite option.”

As well as developing the new area, a new menu has been developed for diners, which includes salads, deli boards and platters.

Richard added: “People nowadays don’t necessarily want a fancy dining experience and sometimes just want to finish work and come for a glass of wine and a quick bite to eat and that is something we are hoping to provide here.”

The new menu can also be ordered at the Cuchulains bar. Diners can have quick meals but can also still choose a longer dining experience if they want to.

At a special opening event on Thursday (12 June), staff from The Royal Toby as well as specially invited guests got to experience the secret garden.

“From the test openings and with trying it out with people, the response has been good and people have really enjoyed it,” said Richard.

When asked if this is something that could potentially be carried over to The Royal Toby, also owned by the Deckers Group, Richard said: “Potentially it could but I think we would need to see how this works first. It has been quite an expensive initiative on our behalf so we would have to see what the response is like before deciding anything but I think that it is something that The Royal Toby could benefit from.”

The Secret Garden will be open to the public from tomorrow and will be open between 12.00pm and 2.30pm and 5.00pm and 8.00pm Monday to Friday and between 12.00pm and 8.00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
