Battle of the Performing Houses 2014 fundraiser

Date published: 13 June 2014

The Battle of the Performing Houses competition held at Siddal Moor Sports College was another great success, with over £700 being raised for Francis House Children’s Hospice.

Performers in each category faced stiff competition, and the deserving winner of the solo category was Caitlin Fitton with a dazzling performance to Coldplay’s ‘Fix You.’

After Dublin Maloney’s disappointment last year he came back bigger and better in 2014 with Richard Torres by his side, winning the Duet category.

Speaking to Mr Thompson, House co-ordinator, after the show, he said “The hours of practice helped polish the raw talent into a winning formula for Thompson House. Well done boys!”

Maariyah Meerally, Jess Parkinson and Florence Goulbourne won the Group category, and Jade Kilduff and Hannah Mooney rounded off the show with a dance mash up taking first place in the Band/ Dance category.

The fundraising officer for Francis House, Amy Swatkins, had a few words she wanted to pass on about the competition: “I just wanted to say how fab the show was yesterday and that everyone put in so much effort. Please pass on my congratulations to everyone involved. It was a pleasure being a judge and thank you very much for asking me along and also raising funds for Francis House.”

Siddal Moor Sports College want to thank all who donated, and give congratulations to all pupils that were involved in the show.
