Well done to the Girls Rounders team who beat Beech House 3 ½ to 2 ½. The girls were brilliant and played through the rain! The team was made up of: Olivia Storto, Moet Griffiths, Ella Hilton, Lydia Entwistle (Player of the Match), Charlotte Cannings, Alana Percy, Abi Holt, Natalia Dec, Lauren Doyle and Melissa Hardman.

The Year 7 Rugby team followed their recent performance vs Wood Hey High School with another set of hard-working, gritty performances at the RFU’s Emerging Schools Competition. With many of the regular boys missing due to a variety of issues, several boys played their first ever Rugby game. The boys unfortunately lost all three of their fixtures, yet the improvements that they made over the games was remarkable. All of the boys finished ‘buzzing’ with a smile on their face, knowing that they had made huge improvements in their performances. The behaviour of the boys was impeccable, and they were a credit to the school.

Our Silver Duke of Edinburgh students will spend three days on expedition in the Yorkshire Dales this weekend, from Sunday to Tuesday. On Thursday and Friday of this week 61 Bronze students will go to Derbyshire for their two day final expedition. Let’s hope the sun shines!

On Friday 20 June, our Year 7 Gifted and Talented students will visit the Lowry Centre in Manchester where they will take part in a workshop on the industrial landscape and the work of Lowry. This will build on the work that pupils have covered in different areas of the curriculum this year and give them a chance to work together in a different setting. They will have the opportunity to work with a professional artist during their time at the Lowry. This is the fourth time pupils will take part in this workshop and all previous cohorts have thoroughly enjoyed the experienced and gained a lot from it.

A reminder that Year 8 Parents’ Evening takes place on Tuesday 17 June. You should now have received your appointment time(s) from school. If you have any queries regarding Parents’ Evening please contact the school on 01706 645522.
