Town centre demolition update

Date published: 07 June 2014

The deconstruction of the black box got under way this week once a giant crane had lifted machinery onto the roof to enable the contractors to deconstruct the building floor by floor from the top. They have already removed all the plant and telephone masts from the roof and the top levels are now being taken apart.

Demolition of the Broadwater Centre and the old St Andrew's Church are also well under way.

Connell Brothers Ltd, who are currently undertaking the town centre demolition work, expect to take around another five weeks to clear the area to make way for the proposed retail and leisure development known as town centre east.
