Natalie Turner, Jessica Lomax and soap star Nikki Sanderson to complete charity cycle ride

Date published: 06 June 2014

Soap star Nikki Sanderson will be joined by two of her friends from Heywood on a charity cycle.

Natalie Turner and Jessica Lomax will join Hollyoaks actress Nikki on a cycle from Vietnam to Cambodia to raise money for When You Wish Upon a Star.

The trio have been friends since they met in 2001 at Holy Cross College in Bury.

Jessica said: “We have been deliberating a challenge for a while now and decided on the cycle challenge, simply because it is just that... a challenge. None of us are cyclists and therefore we will be starting entirely from scratch.”

The girls will be cycling under the name Bury’s Biking Beauties having met in Bury. Nikki, who was born in Blackpool, has spent most of her life living in Bury.

The ride will take the trio five days to complete with the girls hoping to raise £15,000 for the charity.

When You Wish Upon a Star is a charity which provides once in a lifetime opportunities for children with life threatening illnesses. Nikki is an official patron for the charity and has been a patron for over 10 years. This will be her fourth fund-raising challenge for the charity.

Natalie will be completing her second challenge for the charity after previously climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for them.

This will be Jessica’s first challenge for the charity. She said: “I’m feeling nervous, anxious and challenged but most definitely excited.”

The challenge will take place between Sunday 26 October and Friday 31 October this year and will see the trio cycle approximately 417km - which is the equivalent of cycling from London to Brighton every day for five days.

Jessica added: "We are extremely excited to be involved in this charity challenge, and although the thought of it is very daunting we are all
determined to get across that finish line and do ourselves, each other, friends and family and most importantly the charity proud.”
