Terrific response to Tour de France concert request

Date published: 06 June 2014

Chairman of LEAF (Littleborough Events and Association Forum) Steve Lister has described the response to an article on Rochdale Online earlier this week requesting bands to play at a Tour de France concert as “terrific”.

Steve said: “The response was terrific. We had 11 bands get in touch and we only needed three. I could run a northern Glastonbury after the response we had. The support we had really helped.”

Steve is currently organising the concert as a way of kicking off the Tour de France weekend in Littleborough.

A rock concert was originally planned for Friday 4 July but plans had to change causing Steve to find new bands for the event.

Bands were asked to get in touch with Steve to play for an hour during the three hour concert.

“We might do something like this again but I’m not sure yet. We haven’t thought that far ahead but if it is something that people want then we may look in to doing it again,” said Steve.

The concert will take place in Hare Hill Park between 6.00pm and 9.00pm and will be the start of a number of events in the area celebrating the Tour de France passing through Littleborough.
