Rochdale Council meeting as it happened

Agreed that Councillor Carol Wardle will be the Mayor of Rochdale for 2014-2015.

Former Mayor, Councillor Peter Rush hands over the meeting to new Mayor Councillor Carol Wardle and takes his seat in council.

It is agreed that Councillor Surinder Biant will act as the Deputy Mayor for Rochdale for 2014-2015.

It has been agreed that Councillor Richard Farnell will be the Leader of the Council for the next four years.

Councillor Peter Williams has been appointed as Deputy Leader of the Council.

Councillor Alan Brett is appointed as cabinet member for finance.

Councillor Iftikar Ahmed is appointed as cabinet member for adult care.

Councillor Cecile Biant is appointed as cabinet member for public health and regulation.

Councillor Daalat Ali is appointed as cabinet member for community, culture and tourism.

Councillor Neil Emmott is appointed as cabinet member for corporate services and neighbourhoods.

Councillor Donna Martin will continue her role as cabinet member for children schools and families.

Councillor Jacqueline Beswick is appointed as cabinet member for housing and environment.

Councillor Peter Williams is appointed as cabinet member for business, skills and employment.
