Scouting for Girls
Scouting for Girls will headline Rochdale Feel Good Festival this summer. Best known for hits including ‘Heartbeat’, ‘She’s So Lovely’, ‘Elvis Ain’t Dead’, and ‘This Ain’t A Love Song’ they’ll take to the stage for a free show on Saturday 30 August.
Renowned for their live performances, Scouting for Girls have had 10 top 40 singles, and four top 10 albums, with their most recent - ‘Greatest Hits’ reaching number eight last year.
Scouting for Girls have headlined Wembley Arena, sold more than two million records and been nominated for four Brit Awards, as well as an Ivor Novello Award.
They completed a UK tour in 2013, which included a night at London’s famous Royal Albert Hall, and will be playing a huge gig in Hyde Park prior to their visit to Rochdale.
Rochdale Feel Good Festival returns on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August, with organisers promising another explosion of entertainment, food and culture. There will be live music across indoor venues, a main stage against the backdrop of the town hall and a community stage on the Esplanade. Celebrity chefs will host live cooking demonstrations throughout the event, which will also include a food market. Celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott has already been announced as one of the stars set to host live cooking demonstrations at the festival.
Linda Fisher, Acting Chief Executive at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “I know Scouting for Girls are a fantastic live band with great feel good hits loved by millions, so we are very excited to have such a popular act for the seventh Rochdale Feel Good Festival. This event gets bigger and better each year and brings families into the borough.”
More acts will be confirmed later this month.
The summer festival is funded by Rochdale Borough Council together with sponsorship from Rochdale Online, RRG Toyota, the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre, Carillion, Balfour Beatty, Rochdale Observer, The Flying Horse Hotel and Mango Bar.
