Joe Dunne to make his recording debut on Leverage Records

Date published: 04 June 2014

Singer/songwriter Joe Dunne from Norden will make his Leverage Records debut on Monday 9 June with the digital release of his first single, ‘Youth of Today.’

18-year-old Joe was the winner of the ‘It Could Be You Talent Search’ at Manchester’s Band on the Wall in March and the release of his single will see him return to the venue as a headliner.

Joe will be supported by a number of The Manchester College student bands. ‘Youth of Today’ will also be added to the North Manchester FM 106.6 playlist.

Hailing from Rochdale, Joe has a unique brand of acoustic indie-rock combined with witty lyrics, sharp vocals and memorable melodies.

2013 saw Joe establish a loyal following through open mic nights, gigs and private functions in and around the Manchester area.

Commenting on winning the It Could Be You Talent Search, Joe said: “I’ve never entered a music competition or anything like this before and I didn’t really know what to expect, so it was a big surprise when I was announced as the winner.

“Having the opportunity to record my music in The Manchester College’s studio was a great experience and I am looking forward to the single being released and returning to Band on the Wall.”

Jade-Lee Savory of Leverage Records said: “Joe stood out from the crowd with his unique yet recognisable sound. We could tell he had the drive and ambition to take his career further and we couldn’t let that slip away from us. He will appeal to a wide audience and that’s exactly what we were looking for in an artist.”

Joe currently attends Holy Cross College in Bury, where he is studying for his A Levels.

In addition to performing at Band on the Wall on Monday, Joe will be at Bamford Bowling Club in Rochdale on Saturday 14 June.
