Creepy musical première for local theatre group

Date published: 02 June 2014

The regional première The Addams Family Musical comes to Rochdale.

Whitworth AM&DS have secured the rights to perform the brand new musical “The Addams Family” at the Curtain Theatre in Rochdale this July.

Based on the TV show and movies, the The Addams Family, the show features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family!

Running from the 1- 5 July, The Addams Family Musical is the third regional première the group has performed in the past five years following the successes of Rent and Our House.

“When the opportunity arose, we snatched it with both hands.” said society chairman Andy Kelly, “The show is everything you’d expect from a stage version of the Addams Family- everyone is here, Gomez, Morticia, Fester, Lurch and the crew, and the twisted humour is just how you’d remember it to be.”

The Addams Family was originally a cartoon strip that made its debut as far back as the 1930s, and was made into a black and white TV show in the 60s and three feature films in the 1990s. The stage musical made its debut on Broadway in 2010 and has starred Nathan Lane, Roger Rees and Brook Shields.

“We are very pleased to have put this cast together. The level of talent and ability in the area is second to none,” continued Andy, “Those who have been to see a WAMDS production before will know what to expect. The show is fun, energetic and suitable for people of all ages.”
