Wardle Village Fete

Date published: 31 May 2014

Members of the local community in Wardle held a village fete today (Saturday 31 May).

The fete included face painting, crafts, fair rides, food and a number of stalls selling a variety of goods.

Organiser Rebecca Hilton said: “ There used to be a big fete and fair but it suddenly stopped so we decided to hold one to give people something to do.”

As well as stalls selling goods, two charity stalls were also in place with Rochdale Dog Rescue and Greenmount Royal Bird Sanctuary getting involved.

Held at the Hare and Hounds Pub on Ramsden Road the event was free to those in attendance with Rebecca describing the fete as “well received”.

“We have had a lot of people coming along. A lot of those are from Wardle but we have seen people coming from other areas of Rochdale,” added Rebecca.

The fete took Rebecca and organisers a few months to get together.

Rebecca added: “It took a few months to get it all sorted. We have been really well supported by the local community so that has been good.”

Rebecca now hopes to continue the fete over the coming years.

“Hopefully we can hold it again next year. There is a park round the corner so I think I would like to try and make it a bit bigger and expand it a bit more,” said Rebecca.
