One hundred years of ‘Listening to the Enemy’

Date published: 28 May 2014

A one hour presentation to mark the Centenary of WW1 on 100 years of ‘Listening to the Enemy’ is being run for schools in the borough.

The talk will be given by Roy Taylor an expert on military history and it will be on the subject of 100 years of ‘Listening to the Enemy’, the real story of the top secret ‘Y’ service, which is dedicated to the task of gathering intelligence from the signals traffic of enemies and potential enemies.

Better known as GCHQ, the real story of ‘Ultra’, the goose who laid the golden eggs.

The fascinating and still ongoing story of those who work in secret and often in highly dangerous circumstances, at home and on every battle front, to ensure the defence of our country.

Schools are invited to attend the presentation on Monday 23 June 2014 at 12 noon.
