Rochdale Boroughwide Housing has been awarded the Investor In People Silver Award.
Investors in People (IiP) is the UK's most successful framework for business improvement through people management. 16% of all firms in the UK are accredited, and the silver award demonstrates the RBH commitment as a co-owned mutual organisation to developing and empowering employees.
RBH became the UK's first tenant and employee co-owned mutual housing society in June 2013. It is unusual for new businesses to achieve higher than a bronze accreditation, making this silver ward a high achievement for RBH. The result demonstrates that RBH employees have made great progress together in improving working practices throughout the organisation.
Assessors noted that many employees expressed confidence in the direction of RBH and appreciated the opportunities for learning and development. The assessment also found that managers are very appreciative of their teams, and that many employees felt that their manager has always encouraged them to improve and develop.
RBH will now have the opportunity to 'go for gold' at the next re-accreditation assessment.
Angela Lomax, Chairwoman of the RBH HR Committee, said: “As a relatively new organisation, we are delighted and proud to have achieved the silver standard. It is a testament to our commitment to continuously improve and to the way that our employees and residents have worked together through a period of significant change. This is a positive result for RBH and the recommendations set us on the path to achieve the gold standard next time.”
