Community Support specialists provide a helping hand

Date published: 27 May 2014

Community Support specialists have been explaining to members of a church group about the support on offer to help tenants and residents continue to lead independent lives in their own homes.

Belinda Holt and Deborah Molyneaux, who work as mobile wardens for Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH), visited Littleborough United Reform Church to talk about how RBH Community Support provides a professional support service for older and other vulnerable people around the borough.

Help available includes access to a mobile warden response 24-hours-a-day; regular welfare checks and a wide range of assistive technology including personal alarms and detectors to warn of dangers including smoke, carbon monoxide, flooding, seizures and falls.

Belinda Holt said: “We were delighted the have the chance to talk to the group about the help and support which we can provide to them in their own homes.

“The combination of our dedicated support and response service and assistive technology are making it possible for more people to remain in their own homes for longer while maintaining their independence.

“The service provides customers and their families with peace of mind that, in the event of an emergency, help is at hand and this is a message we are keen to spread around the borough.”

The church group showed their appreciation to Belinda and Deborah by holding a collection in aid of RBH’s official charity, Springhill Hospice.
