On Track Dog Training School wins Kennel Club Award

Date published: 27 May 2014

On Track Dog Training School has won the Kennel Club's Good Citizen Dog Scheme Training Award - On Track won in the Listed Status Category for their Good Buddy Scheme.

The Good Citizen Dog Scheme Annual Awards were created in 1996 in recognition of the hard work and contributions made by members and supporters of training organisations and local authorities who promote the Scheme. The awards are a way of rewarding their work and giving us a greater understanding of local community issues throughout the UK.

An email revealed to an elated club that of the thousands of dog clubs across the country, Rochdale’s On Track had made a shortlist of three for the award.

The awards took place in London at the Kennel Club and Cath Phillips, owner and founder of Rochdale’s On Track Dog Training School, along with Shelley Sandiford and Joanne Borg (two longest serving members and first Good Buddy handlers), travelled down with a mass of good luck wishes and cards.

Cath said: “London was amazing. We decided to take the ten minute walk from Euston to the Kennel Club. A slight miscalculation of distance meant that it was a brisk 40 minute walk before arriving to a very warm reception. Eventually we nervously seated in the reception lounge surrounded by huge portraits of Kennel Club dignitaries.

“Listening to Maurice Cook [Chairman of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme] list all of the other clubs, individuals and local councils achievements made us so proud to be part of it all. The scheme has reached thousands of dog owners and done so much to fulfil its aims in promoting responsible dog ownership.

“It was an unbelievable moment and a great landmark in the history of our club when it was announced that On Track Dog Training School were the winners of the Listed Status category.”
