Pensioners taken to hospital following chip pan fire

Two elderly people were taken to hospital and another was treated at the scene after a chip pan fire at a house on Borrowdale Drive in Sudden this afternoon (Sunday 25 May).
The fire was caused by a chip pan, which was left unattended.
An 82-year-old man and an 85-year-old woman were treated with oxygen and taken to Fairfield Hospital in Bury for slight smoke inhalation.
An 84-year-old woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but did not need hospital treatment.
Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service received the call just after 1.45pm and reported that the kitchen and its contents were damaged.
All three people had left the building before the fire service had arrived.
The man and woman taken to hospital have since been discharged.
