Belfield Art Group annual fair

Date published: 24 May 2014

Belfield Art Group held their annual fair and open day today (Saturday 24 May) to show off their work and to attract new members to the group.

The group, who meet every Wednesday, held their 14th fair today after starting in 2000.

Neil Bamford, chairman of the group, said: “We hold the fair every year and have been doing it for fourteen years now. It is just about displaying our work and showing off the things that we can do.”

The fair included displays of photography and watercolour paintings, a plant stall, bric a brac, a raffle, book stall, handmade cards and home delights as well as refreshments.

“We have had a good number of people come along today but it is about increasing that number year-on-year and letting people know where we are and what we do,” added Neil.

As well as displays, a watercolour taster session was also being held so people could have a try at creating a watercolour picture.

Neil said: “We have a demonstration going on as well so people can try it and see what they think. It is very easy once you sit down and give it a go.”

The group also paid tribute to the Hain family who sadly died in March. Jeffrey Hain was a member of the art group so members thought a small tribute would be fitting.

“We just decided to do a little tribute to Jeff today because we don’t think there are any family any more,” said Neil.

The group meet every Wednesday between 2.00pm and 4.00pm at St Ann’s Church on Milnrow Road and currently has around 17 members but new members are always welcomed.
