Teachers get gunged by pupils at Oulder Hill for Go Green fundraising
The fundraising team have now moved into the Craven Heifer on Broad Lane.
The Hospice bought the premises to give the fundraising team their own offices.
Date for the Diary
Saturday 21 June – Summer Serenade – The event will see Rochdale Wind Band, the Children’s Choir and the Rock choir get involved for a musical
extravaganza. The evening is a picnic affair and follows on from last year’s successful event.
Saturday 12 July – Pyjama Walk – The Midnight walk that the Hospice usually holds has changed this year to be a more family oriented event. The walk will now start at 9.30pm from the Craven Heifer and will be a 10 mile walk. Families are encouraged to take part. The route is yet to be set but those wanting to take part are encouraged to wear pyjamas and onesies for the event.
Sunday 20 July – Open Garden Day – An opportunity for people to have a look around the beautiful grounds of the Hospice. Refreshments will also be
available with event being free.
Woman of Rochdale
The Woman of Rochdale crown was given to two outstanding women this year. At the Woman on Rochdale luncheon held on Friday 9 May, best friends, Joy Whitworth and Wendy Mills jointly won the title.
The first ever Junior Woman of Rochdale award went to Katie Bowmer who picked up the award for her continued efforts and contributions to business, community and education.
Go Green for Springhill
Go Green Day which took place on Friday 16 May has been described as “really good” by the fundraising team.
A total for the day is currently unknown as funds are still being received. The Heywood Springhill Hospice shop has currently raised £700 but that is still
increasing.
Oulder Hill Community School held green activities yesterday (Friday 23 May), including an own clothes day, green food and a gunge the teacher activity
which saw pupils make their own gunge to be thrown at teachers. A visit by Springy the Hospice Frog was also made today.
Lillie Winterbottom from the fundraising team has also been at the school all week giving assemblies about what the hospice does.
