Rochdale Food Bank visit Hamer Primary School

Date published: 23 May 2014

Recently Rochdale Food Bank came into school to speak to our children at assembly time about the work that they do in the local area to support families and individuals who are in situations whereby the food bank relieves some of their daily pressures.

After the assembly the children decided that they would like to support this worthy cause. The children had a non uniform day and the school council under the direction of Miss Mullane organised a collection in school.

The response from our families was overwhelming and the food bank had to make two trips in order to collect all of the donations! The food bank later reported that we had donated 245 kilos of food. Many thanks to all of our families for their donations and good luck to the food bank in continuing their excellent work in the local area.

The M&M Theatre were in school on Friday 23 May performing their version of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Our Year 6 children joined with our friends from Springside to enjoy the performance.

The Parents Group visited Manchester on Thursday 22 May with Mrs Coward and Miss Wild for their organised outing and everyone had a wonderful time.

As you know Mrs Cunningham the Head will be leaving the school at the end of this academic year. We are delighted to announce that Mr Simon Moore has been appointed as the new Headteacher of Hamer Primary School. He is very much looking forward to meeting you all and continuing the drive to ensure that Hamer is the best possible school it can be!!
