Norden Carnival set to be the longest parade ever

Date published: 21 May 2014

Norden Carnival, on Saturday 14 June, is set to be the the longest parade yet with more local businesses, schools and community groups set to join the parade.

The procession will be lead by this year’s carnival royalty Emma Clarke, Melody Hunt (who has taken part in the carnival every year) and Aman Abbas.

Posters were designed by this year’s competition winners Jensen Dale-Branton, Myiesha Amaniand and Charlotte Dale-Branton.

The parade begins at Caldershaw at 1.00pm, from there it travels up Edenfield Road, through the village and then returns via Shawfield Lane to finish at Norden Community Primary School.

Live music, dance shows, a funfair and plenty of other activities will be taking place at the school until around 4.30pm. A selection of food and drinks will also be available.

The Norden Carnival was established in 1977 and has taken place every June as a charity fundraising event.

The theme for this year’s parade is ‘Step Back in Time.’
