Abigail Matthews runs for Kenyan water project
Date published: 19 May 2014
Abigail Matthews, 9, completed the Great Manchester Junior run and raised well over £200 for the Middleton Rotary Club’s Rain Catchment Projects in Tharaka, Kenya.
Abigail has taken part in three of Manchester’s mini fun runs previously but this year completed the two mile junior fun run as she has now moved up the age groups.
Her mum and grandmother have both taken part in the run on many occasions.
Her grandmother, Janice Powell, said: “Abi took part for the Middleton Rotary Club’s water projects in Kenya.”
These projects have been partly funded by Middleton Rotary Club and are currently underway.
The event took place in Heaton Park, Manchester on one of the hottest days of the year yet.
