Patients invited to nominate NHS staff for exceptional care at PAHT awards

Date published: 17 May 2014

As part of its fifth annual Staff Awards event, The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is asking the public, its patients and their families to nominate a member of staff, ward or team who work at any of their hospitals or community services for its 'Pennine Patients’ Choice Award'.

The award gives the general public and the Trust’s members the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ and publicly recognises the outstanding care and treatment given to either them, a relative or close friend. An independent judging panel will select the winner.

The winning staff will be announced at the Trust’s Staff Awards dinner in June which will be hosted by double Olympic rowing champion and endurance adventurer James Cracknell OBE. James is vice-president of Headway, the brain injury association and supports the Royal British Legion, Sparks, cancer charities and Sport Relief.

James said: “I’m really looking forward to being involved in Pennine Acute Trust’s staff awards this year. It will be a privilege and honour for me to meet and congratulate local NHS staff who work extremely hard every day to care and treat people and who have been voted by their colleagues and the public for their care, compassion and skill. I believe it’s important we take the opportunity to recognise the efforts of NHS staff. It will be a great occasion and a fun evening.”

The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust runs Rochdale Infirmary, The Royal Oldham Hospital, Fairfield General Hospital in Bury, North Manchester General Hospital and community services in North Manchester.

The Trust’s Staff Awards are fully sponsored and paid for by external companies and suppliers who work with the Trust. Sponsors this year include NG Bailey, Vinci Construction UK, Weightmans, G2Speech and Philips, Kainos, Lloyds Pharmacy, Sitekit Solutions, G4S Government Services and Mitie.

The public can nominate a member of staff, team or ward by completing an online form via the Trust website at www.pat.nhs.uk, by email at ft.membership@pat.nhs.uk or by calling 01706 517302. The closing date is 30 May.
