Springy the Hospice frog visits businesses embracing Go Green day

Date published: 16 May 2014

Springy the Hospice Frog paid a visit to Rochdale businesses this morning (Friday 16 May) to see how they were embracing the colour green for Go Green Day.

His first visit was to Graham Poole Transport where staff were wearing green t-shirts to support the Hospice.

The company is already a supporter of the Hospice and recently raised over £4,000 at a family fun day.

Speaking about their fundraising efforts, Graham Poole, Managing Director of Graham Poole Transport, said: “I vowed that I would do whatever I could to help Springhill Hospice to be able to continue with the fantastic work that they do for our community.”

Springy then called into Rochdale Leisure Centre to pay a visit to staff and customers who were taking part in a marathon fundraising effort for the day.

Staff and customers were aiming to complete 26 miles on a treadmill to raise money for the Hospice.

Duty Manager Donna Matley said: “We have 30 people booked on to take part in the activity so we have had a really good and positive response to what we have planned.”

The leisure centre decided to go down the fitness route based on the facilities available to them.

“Each person will complete 30 minutes on the treadmill until we hit the 26 mile mark. We also have collection tins for donations as well,” added Donna.

All money raised by go green activities will go to Springhill Hospice to help them continue. It currently costs £3m a year to keep the doors of the Hospice open so donations and fundraising efforts are greatly appreciated.

Springhill Hospice provides palliative end of life care, day facilities, Hospice at Home and bereavement counselling services to the people of Rochdale and the surrounding areas.
