Folk Group awarded Trophies

Wardle Academy Folk Group performed at the Rochdale Youth Festival of Performing Arts Celebration Concert on Sunday 11 May.

The band was awarded the Halstead Trophy for Best Folk Instrumental. They performed two songs: Cooney’s Reel into The Banshee and Waterbound.

After a fantastic performance the Wardle Academy Folk Group were awarded the Shorrock and Shorrock Trophy for ‘Outstanding Performance in Concert’ by Mr Chris Lloyd.

Mrs Janet Emsley, Director of Performing Arts, said: “I am very proud that their excellence has been recognised and we are all looking forward to going to the Birmingham Symphony Hall next month with Music For Youth.”
