Tea party raises money for Hospice at Home

Date published: 13 May 2014

A tea party organised by the Friends of Springhill Hospice at Home saw over 90 people attend to raise money for the Hospice at Home service.

The party, which is held every year was held at The Crimble Restaurant, included afternoon tea.

Mayor of Rochdale Peter Rush, Mayoress Monica Rush and Councillors James and Jane Gartside attended the event to support the Hospice.

Rita Bradshaw, Chairwoman of the Friends of Springhill Hospice at Home, said: “We do this event every year as a fundraiser for the Hospice and we always have a good response.”

Mayor Peter Rush opened the event and said: “It is an honour and a pleasure to be here today. I have to say a big thank you to the Crimble for all of their hard work today. This event is a great event and I wish the Friends group and the Hospice all of the best with their continued fundraising efforts.”

This year’s event saw a cap in numbers. Rita added: “We have had to put a cap at 90 people this year because there just isn’t enough room for anymore people.”

Rita also praised the efforts of the staff at the Crimble for hosting the event. She said: “Every year the staff are fantastic. They come in on their day off and help with the event.”

The £1,024 raised at the event will go towards the Hospice at Home service provided by Springhill Hospice. The Hospice at Home service was developed for patients at the end of life who wish to spend their last days at home and provides nursing care for patients and support for
their families.

Councillor Ann Stott said: “We would like to raise as much money as possible really. Everyone has been very generous with their donations.”

The Crimble host the event every year in the Peacock Room.

Richard Stansfield, Sales and Marketing Executive for the Deckers Group, said: “The team at the Crimble are very proud of the fundraising they do on behalf of Springhill Hospice. The tea party has become an annual event and one which we are very pleased to host.

"Springhill Hospice have provided support and care for Crimble colleagues and their families, which is why we feel a very natural association with the Hospice and it is so important that the amazing work the Hospice does continues in the future.”
