Siddal Moor Duke of Edinburgh Trips

Date published: 13 May 2014

Separate trips were organised over the past month for students who are taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

The groups worked really hard on all the weekends that had been planned over the last three weeks.

The silver practice started in truly horrific Peak District weather conditions, there was torrential rain and low cloud on Friday afternoon which lasted through to Saturday morning and the students and staff were very lucky that the tents didn't float away into the mist on the first night!

The weather then turned and Saturday/Sunday was fabulous, the group finished off with a well-deserved ice cream at a local shop.

There were three groups on the bronze practice this weekend, the route took them around some of the scenic parts of Belmont and Rivington. Everyone was impressed with the view from our lunch stop half way up the Pike (even if they weren't impressed with the steep route to climb up there!)

All the groups had very enjoyable weekends and are looking forward to the next trip.
