Musicians try raft building
Date published: 13 May 2014
Last month, a group of Wardle Academy musicians from Years 7 to 9 visited Lakeside on a teambuilding trip. The pupils took part in a range of activities, including using a zip wire, raft building, canoeing, and King Swing.
The group also took part in an obstacle course where they risked getting covered in mud.
The annual trip is a chance for the musicians, who work hard representing the school in festivals and performances throughout the year, to have some fun and team-build. The trip is focused on Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils, with the musicians in the other years being given the chance to go abroad later in the year.
As well as being a strong performing academic school Wardle Academy has a strong tradition in the performing arts, but particularly in brass band music. The school has several groups and bands and they also support local primary schools.
