Year 7 CALL learners have paid a visit to Liverpool this week, visiting the Liverpool World Museum, The Museum of Liverpool and the Tate Liverpool. Learners who attended the day completed an activity pack and the best booklet completed for each day will win a great prize. The day encourages research skills and reading for a range of purposes. The winners for each day will be announced shortly.

There are two new CEPA competitions on display on the school website and entry forms have been distributed to form tutors. The first competition invites learners to identify Drama Key terms and submit the form back to the CEPA office and the second competition asks students to write a short drama based on the Romans. The closing dates have been published and we are already in receipt of some entries. We look forward to seeing more of the student work.

Year 11 learners are now in the process of exam study and should be using their revision timetables. The students are able to use a quiet place to study at lunchtimes or after school. For more details, students should speak to their respective Heads of Community or their Form Tutors. Extra study classes are now underway and class teachers are providing additional work for students. In you have any problems or questions, please contact individual members of staff. Students should now be ensuring all coursework is complete.

Our Dance Show is rapidly approaching and tickets are selling quickly. The event is titled ‘Distraction’ and features performers from a range of years and dances of different styles. The show takes place on the 22 May from 6pm until 8pm. Tickets are available from the CEPA Office at breaktimes, lunchtimes or after schools, priced £3.00 (No concessions) or £4.00 including a limited edition wristband. Our Tex-Mex Arts Quiz Night takes place in early July and tickets are selling fast. The evening will feature food of the Mexican variety (for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians) and fun activities for all the family. Tickets are to be purchased directly from school in advance only, priced £6.00 (including food).

Year 11 Arts Award Silver and Gold learners are now asked to ensure that their portfolios are complete and that all evidence is clearly marked within their folders. Each student has been issued with a checklist of items and they should ensure all documents are present. A visit will paid by the assessor later in the term and we will notify learners shortly as they may be required to be present for a short interview. A reminder to parents of Year 10 students who are taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award scheme, that the first of 2 one overnight expeditions takes part on Friday 20 June to Saturday 21 June 2014. Pupils needs to meet at school at 7.25am on Friday morning and will return to school at approx. 4.30pm on Saturday afternoon. They will be navigating themselves around the Rivington areas of Bolton, and will camp overnight at Bibby’s Farm Scout Camp and activity Centre. Please could parents ensure that all consent forms are returned to school as soon as possible.
School is the process of trialling some different software to make online payments more efficient. Please can you as parents ensure that school holds up to date emails and mobile phone information wherever possible. This can either be sent into school via students or emailed to school at office@falingepark.com Please include your name and the name of your child.

Transport for Greater Manchester has reviewed its existing yellow School Bus pass Application and pass renewal processes and has upgraded this with the introduction of an on-line facility. The new process is available by visiting the application forms portal on our website at www.yellowschoolbus.info and www.tfgm.com/buses/yellowschoolbus. The yellow application forms are still available upon request by telephoning 0161 244 1000 for those who do not have access to a computer.
