Housing development set to transform Heady Hill, Heywood

Date published: 08 May 2014

Plans have been submitted for a development of 26 new properties to be built on land at Longridge Drive, Heywood.

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) has put in an application to build 23 houses and 3 bungalows.

The application is the second phase of a wider development with 14 homes already built nearby.

The site, which is owned by the council, has been vacant since 2003 when a previous development was demolished.

It is hoped that the new development will provide affordable rented accommodation in a mixture of three person, four person and six person properties.

Local residents were consulted over the plans last month. Concerns were raised regarding the lack of open space for children and teenagers in the area, disruption during the construction of the homes and a lack of parking on Longridge Drive.

Since the consultation, RBH has agreed to review the children’s play area resources and has changed the location of driveways on the new homes in an attempt to improve parking issues.
