The High Court in London yesterday refused two Rochdale residential care home operators permission to appeal against their earlier decision to dismiss defamation claims surrounding comments made by Councillor Colin Lambert at a Community Forum meeting on 30 May 2012.
The defamation case against Rochdale Council and Council Leader Colin Lambert, brought by Meadows Care Limited and Pathfinders Childcare Limited, was previously dismissed by Mr Justice Bean in a judgement handed down at The Royal Court of Justice.
Mr Justice Bean ruled that Councillor Lambert’s remarks were not defamatory of the two companies.
