Year 7 pupils from Wardle Academy at the University of Manchester
Year 7 pupils from Wardle Academy were given their first taste of the Manchester Gateways Programme last week.
The day provided the opportunity for the pupils to experience what a university is like and to understand the range of subjects on offer in higher education.
In the morning, the pupils went on a Behind-the-Scenes campus tour to see the University of Manchester Library and new Learning Commons, the Whitworth Hall, the John Owens Quadrangle and the Students' Union.
The pupils went on to complete the 'University Challenge', which introduced them to subjects that can be studied at university.
The University of Manchester Gateways Programme provides Year 7-11 learners the opportunity to take part in a coherent series of Higher Education awareness and subject-specific activities.
The Programme is targeted at talented learners from the local region who have the ability to progress into Higher Education (HE) and are from backgrounds that are clearly under-represented.
